Personal Change Blog: Entry 2

 

It has been one week since I started my journey of quitting pornography, and I have already noticed changes because of plan I made for myself. My plan consists of putting content restrictions on my phone and computer, distracting myself with physical activity (gym, walking, playing sports, etc.), and daily positive affirmations. I have noticed that distracting myself with physical activity has helped me the most. This is because while I am doing any sort of physical activity my phone usage is almost none, and after I have finished the activity, I feel good about myself which does not enable me to seek a quick dopamine fix that I would get from pornography. Some positive things that I have experienced are being more productive and overall spending less time on my devices. However, the overall week has not been full of positives. I have not been able to sleep as well and frequently experience mental lulls, where I feel I cannot think and focus clearly. I was not expecting to encounter these challenges, however, I am still highly optimistic and motivated that I will be able to quit pornography for good.
